I currently support the Office of Museum Services as a Senior Program Officer with a focus on early learning, including early literacy, early STEM learning, kindergarten readiness, family programming, and parent engagement; K-12 formal and informal education; participatory learning (gaming, makerspaces, etc.), and creative youth development. My portfolio includes the Inspire! Grants for Small Museums program and the Lifelong Learning category of the Museums for America program. I serve as the Federal Records Officer for the Office of Museum Services and I manage the Office of Museum Services Internship Program. I serve on federal interagency teams, including the Early Childhood Federal Partners Group, the National Student Poets Team, and the Federal Games Guild. I also manage two cooperative agreements, including the Boston Children’s Museum’s Building a National Network of Museums and Libraries for School Readiness, and the New York Hall of Science’s Maker/STEM Education Support for 21st Century Community Learning Centers.

I also managed the National Arts and Humanities Youth Program Awards (the Nation's highest honor for out‐of‐school arts and humanities programs), which is a partnership and interagency agreement between the President’s Committee on the Arts and Humanities (PCAH), the National Endowment for the Arts, and the National Endowment for the Humanities. I served as the Federal Records Officer for the Office of Museum Services. I served on federal interagency teams, including the Early Childhood Federal Partners Group, the National Student Poets Team, and the Federal Games Guild. From 2013 to 2016, I served as a liaison on two cooperative agreements, including the BUILD Initiative and the STEM Video Game Challenge.

I supported the Office of Museum Services by monitoring and administering discretionary museum grant projects across multiple grant programs. I processed incoming applications, consulted with prospective applicants and provided guidance to strengthen future applications, and monitored grantees for performance versus planned objectives. I represented IMLS at regional and national conferences.

As a Student Trainee in the Student Career Experience Program, I supported the Office of Museum Services by reading and reviewing grant applications across all grant portfolios. I coordinated the peer review process and assisted with meeting planning and coordination.

Assessed and inventoried the artifacts on display in the Stable Yard Complex for historical accuracy, including the Stable and Coach House buildings. Used Mount Vernon library and archival sources, scholarly secondary sources, and trips to similar sites to create a list of objects appropriate in 18th century spaces of this sort in general and at Mount Vernon’s Stable and Coach House in particular. Compared the compiled list to the inventory taken at the death of George Washington in 1799 to develop new interpretive and furnishings plans for the Stable and Coach House buildings at Mount Vernon. Created a wish list of objects needed to increase historical accuracy in the interpretive display, developed biographies of both workers and horses, created an historical timeline of the buildings, and updated the sign verbiage and audio tour information. Developed an educational lesson plan relating to the Stable and Coach House buildings research, following both Virginia and Maryland State guidelines, as well as national standards for education, to be used in the Resource Center of the Donald W. Reynolds Museum and Education Center, and to be used by teachers and museum professionals to educate students about 18th-century transportation and agricultural practices.

Developed the 2006 exhibition "Digging Deeper: Archaeological Discoveries Across the National Trust," including the exhibition title and logo, exhibition goals and themes, object and image lists, and the exhibition announcement initial draft. Served as the project manager, working with museum leadership and cross-functional teams to see that the scope, schedule, budget, goals, educational objectives, roles, responsibilities, and ground rules for operations and decision-making were followed. Served as the central point of contact for all phases of project planning and implementation, including preparation of documentation for review by senior management. Coordinated details for the exhibition to travel to various NTHP historic sites. Developed the educational component, Buried History, a children’s essay contest. Provided suggestions for lecture series guests to complement the exhibition’s themes. Conducted research on the history of NTHP archaeology. Created condition report format for the archaeological collection within the Trust’s s stewardship and prepared condition reports for the Drayton Hall artifacts in particular.

Worked with a team of eight substitute teachers to provide assistance to teachers at all elementary schools in Frederick, MD. Used pre-prepared lesson plans to instruct students on various topics within mathematical and language arts Standards of Learning guidelines for Maryland. Prior to joining the team, I instructed students according to lesson plans across all schools (elementary through high school) in Frederick, MD.

Assisted curator with exhibition research, including an exhibition pertaining to the history of music in Frederick County, MD. Cataloged museum objects for organization, storage, and preservation. Took digital images; entered artifact information into Past Perfect software.

Organized and executed the development of an archaeological artifact storage facility for more than ten National Trust Historic Sites, ensuring the safekeeping of American cultural heritage. Re-housed the NTHP archaeological collection stored at Montpelier, including artifacts from Belle Grove, Chesterwood, Cliveden, Decatur House, Drayton Hall, Lyndhurst, Montpelier, Oatlands, Woodlawn Plantation and Pope-Leighey House, Woodrow Wilson House, Bachelor’s Hope, Eastman Hill Stock Farm, and Mount Harmon. Served as the central point of contact for all phases of project planning and implementation.
