Abuse Refuge Org (ARO) was created based on the need for dramatic change in the Abuse Care Industry. Kelly Dehn, the National Executive Director and Co-Founder of Abuse Refuge Org saw this as an opportunity to help those who are most in need of our future services, The Abused Community. We focus on seven major areas of abuse to include: narcissism, sexual, physical, psychological, financial, child and self-abuse. Our ARO Internship Program consists of a lengthy educational course, on the job training working with Donors, Volunteers, Employees and other Interns, interfacing with individuals with all walks of life as well as companies, soliciting support for ARO and our mission. The Intern is required to maintain proper accounting and descriptive information for all Donors and other in kind contributions made to ARO. ARO will maintain a complete and updated log of the entirety of the Intern’s experience with ARO. All our Interns either apply for a position as an Intern, is recommended by Management and/or is recruited by ARO employees or other ARO Interns.Life lessons are an invaluable and productive effort at ARO. Many life themes are discussed and internalized by the Intern throughout the entirety of their Internship. Oftentimes, we ask ourselves, “Why didn’t someone tell me this when I was starting out?”. Here at ARO, our mission is to prepare the Intern for as many employment opportunities, life’s unexpectancies and social business and personal skills that will last and prove useful to the Intern throughout their lifetime.
