I earned my bachelors degree in English and Political Science at St. John Fisher University. Throughout my college education, I was a scholar in the First Generation Program, which provided me with the opportunity to complete thirty hours of community service per semester within the Rochester community heightening my awareness of and connection to the community.Upon graduation, I entered into a year of service through the Rochester Youth Year AmeriCorps program, which allowed me to remain in Rochester and work within the community. I worked with Taproot Collective, a nonprofit organization working to design and build holistic systems for healthy local food and educational opportunities with youth and families, and City Roots Community Land Trust, a nonprofit dedicated to rehabbing and providing deeply affordable housing to Rochester residents. I focused primarily on capacity building work and strengthening the relationship between them while leading collaboration on a two-year grant. I took on a coordinator role for the project through agenda setting and meeting facilitation, coordinating and managing volunteers, managing community outreach, and drawing on various partnerships for networking purposes.
