EcoAddendum is an environmental nonprofit organization focused on educating and reconnecting the general public, diverse communities, and municipal leaders to the natural environment through educational walks and outings, greenspace restoration volunteer opportunities, greenspace mapping, and restoration planning. At EcoAddendum, I was able to help the organization grow in many meaningful ways. Here are some of the highlights!- Created and managed the organization’s Instagram account which currently has over 800 followers. - Developed a social media strategy to strengthen engagement including themed weekly #ForestFeaturesFriday posts. These educational posts center around the native ecology of the Piedmont region and are often inspired by interesting finds the EcoAddendum team encounters in the field! - Led as the main administrator for multiple grant submittals and deliverables including two Park Pride Small Change Grants that allowed for the expansion and continuation of EcoAddendum’s volunteer programs in South Bend Park and Adams Park. - Integrated and managed the Eco-Literacy Atlanta Online Course on two different Learning Management Systems. The educational program currently has over 100 participants registered and is still growing!

After attending a Full-Stack Web Development Boot Camp at Georgia Tech, I worked alongside two exceptional developers and created a mobile phone application known as the TreeValueMatrix. This app can be used to assess the general quality of a tree in the Piedmont region based on several ecological factors.

During this season with GPC, along with working on projects throughout the park, I was able to create a social media fundraising campaign focused on the restoration of the historic Lion Bridge. This campaign gave the public an inside look at the restoration process and all of the different people involved in making it happen!

After completing my Environmental Science degree at Florida State University, I moved to Georgia and accepted an internship with Grant Park Conservancy, whose mission is to restore and preserve the historic importance and features of Grant Park while providing venues for active and passive recreation for all the people who use the park. This internship focused on social media communications and provided the opportunity to learn the ins and outs of the nonprofit world. I conducted background research on Atlanta’s largest parks and conservancies alongside my colleague, Jacob Arnold. We presented our findings to GPC board members at the end of our internship which gave an overview of information such as park size, conservancy size, funding/fundraising events, and more!

I worked as an Urban Agriculture intern, taking on tasks such as landscaping, soil testing, and plant identification. Along with the field work required for this direct independent study, I also wrote a research paper on the environmental justice history of the surrounding area.
