At the time of my admission as a solicitor I was given practical carriage of a senior Public Liability caseload of files, several of which I later settled at a quantum of $100,000.00 or more.By the time I had completed my period of restricted practice and become a Junior lawyer, I had appeared as Counsel on more than 100 interlocutory matters. This included Pre-Trial Conferences, Listing Conferences and Chamber Summons pertaining to various disputes including as to particulars, interrogatories and subpoenas, as well as a few appeals before Judges.Just prior to 3 years post admission, I was the instructing solicitor on a month-long Trial in the District Court, with both Senior and Junior Counsel briefed and a Quantum in excess of $1,000,000.00. My client was successful in this case [see Smith v High Energy Services Pty Ltd [2021] WADC 101].By the time I had reached 4 years post admission, I was the Legal Practice Director of a small, high volume, law firm and responsible for appearing on the majority of matters, as well as assisting to train and advise multiple teams, including lawyers and support staff in relation to legal matters for an international business. By 5 years post admission, I had experienced training a variety of staff, across different age groups and diversities both domestically and internationally, including Senior and Junior lawyers, Restricted Practitioners, as well as various paralegals and support staff. I had spoken at Seminars to help educate medical professionals on personal injury law, as well as written articles to assist with educating the general public of their rights in personal injury claims.I am now State Leader for WA and QLD at RTN Law, a growing national firm, specialising in credit hire insurance matters. My role is focused on training teams of lawyers nationally in an effort to tighten and improve processes and most importantly developing the next generation to help them reach their own goals.
