I am Senior Teacher Training Manager at Babbel Live, developing and managing an education & training program for our growing pool of international online language instructors. In this role, I focus on scaling our training program for the projected growth in 2024/25, involving projects for didactic support and in-classroom techniques, processing of performance data, and cross-departmental project management. My work at Babbel is based on my educational background in languages, literatures and linguistics, as well as my professional background in academic language instruction, digital education and event engineering. I hold a Ph.D. in Germanic Studies from the University of Minnesota with a thesis on the work and reception of the German Jewish literary critic Erich Auerbach [https://www.proquest.com/docview/3105793821]. My research and teaching interests focus on modern German literature, history and philosophy in the European context (with a specific focus on the interwar period), incl. Turkey and the Middle East, German Jewish exile, the history of modern cultural criticism, and foreign language acquisition & pedagogy. I lived and worked in Germany, Turkey, Italy, and the United States. Before entering the world of academia and EdTech, I worked as a specialist for event engineering in professional theatre (Germany & abroad), which trained me in the field of visual & literary aesthetics, working at the intersection of image and text, and communicating across diverse work cultures. Last but not least, theatre allowed me to travel the world for many years. My heart beats for literature and the (performing) arts, as well as for my family life between Germany and the United States.
