In addition to more than a dozen how-to books on computer software, C. Michael Woodward has published magazine articles, blogs, op-eds, and other writings on a variety of non-fiction topics. Most notably, his essay, “Manning Up,” became the title piece for the critically acclaimed anthology Manning Up: Transsexual Men on Finding Brotherhood, Family, and Themselves (Transgress Press, 2014).Prior to relocating to Seattle, Michael helped to shape Tucson and southern Arizona as a welcoming community for transgender, gay, lesbian, bisexual, queer, and allied people. His dedication was recognized by Equality Arizona with the Skip Schrader Spirit of Activism Award in 2013.Michael was the first executive director of the Southern Arizona Gender Alliance (SAGA), and later served on the SAGA Board of Directors. He served on the City of Tucson Commission on GLBT Issues and is a charter member of The University of Arizona President’s LGBT Advisory Council, where he helped to implement the nation’s first trans-inclusive restroom access policy for a state university campus.As a speaker, lecturer, corporate trainer, peer counselor, and coach, Michael has enlightened thousands of people across the country on matters of sexual orientation and gender identity and expression (SOGIE). He provides policy and best practices consulting, inclusive strategic planning services, and SOGIE education to employers, healthcare providers, law enforcement, policy makers, educators, and others.A native of Indiana, Michael earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Public and Corporate Communication from Butler University in 1986.
