A term that can most easily be described as a little girl who was surrounded by agriculture but chose the path of youth sports teams instead. ...Which got me really far in life, of course.Growing up, I vaguely understood what happened on my grandparent’s farm, just a mile down the road from my house. I knew that my birthday was always spent picking pumpkins for their pumpkin patch (long before those were trendy), four-wheeler rides with grandpa to check cattle was the best after-school activity, and the slobbery battle fought while trying to feed a bottle calf was a losing game - every time. Agriculture was not something that I understood as a labor-intensive, authentic way of life - not truly, at that point anyway. Fast-forward through my not-so-acclaimed t-ball career and the awkward teen years to my time at Iowa State. As it turned out, my roots had grown a little deeper than I, or anyone else, could have anticipated. Fortunately, the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences cultivated that interest and grew my knowledge of our food, fiber, and fuel production. It also provided me a limitless supply of learning, leadership and volunteer opportunities that opened so many doors to unforgettable adventures. ...How else does one explain shamelessly dressing up as a superhero ear of corn on an +80-degree summer day? Today, I help champion America's farmers and ranchers by strategically enhancing retail protein sales and stimulating demand. At the forefront of my approach is the active collaboration with retail partners nationwide. By understanding their needs and challenges, I can deploy resources, promotions, trainings, and other strategic measures to support their success.
