I was recruited to modernize a Ruby monolithic application to Java microservices deployed via Kubernetes, working in collaboration with a product manager and design manager. During my tenure I managed a remote-first distributed team responsible for delivering features for the critical rewards redemption and client billing product areas, and grew the team to six members. Highlights: ● Drove efforts to transition team to web services in Java and Kotlin on Kubernetes due to scalability issues with Ruby. Defined development processes and built a template for Kotlin web services to ensure expedited microservices delivery. ● Wrote the first Kotlin web service as a POC to ensure it was production-ready and compatible with CI/CD processes. ● Partnered with product manager to define and maintain team roadmap and backlog spanning Java/Kotlin-backed APIs, PostgreSQL proxies, and integrations with external data sources.● Resurrected an inactive engineering guild meeting to facilitate informal bi-weekly discussions between engineers about ideas for proof of concepts and new technologies.

Product Engineering Manager, data.worlddata.world provides a SaaS product that empowers its users to pull data from disparate sources for reporting and analytics. I was hired to build a new team responsible for owning and maintaining ~30 data integrations and contributing to both product management and engineering management for the SaaS product’s connectors and plugins. While in this role I led delivery of multiple language clients that enabled users to use the platform for different programming languages and provided built-in methods for users to quickly build integrations. Software Engineer Manager/Architect, Kasasa Kasasa is an award-winning fintech SaaS platform for small banks and credit unions. I initially joined as a Software Engineer and earned promotions to Client Solutions Architect and Software Engineering Manager, where I led a five-member engineering team in a hands-on role responsible for delivering features of the Kasasa Rewards Checking SaaS product and data pipelines.Highlights: ● Built a take back loan feature that enabled users to borrow against existing loans as a new line of credit. ● Led efforts to stabilize a legacy on-prem C# platform to enable focus on a new SaaS development effort.● Guided team in development of the next-gen SaaS built in Java and AWS. ● Independently developed multiple feature POCs including an AWS Athena POC repurposed for an in-house data migration tool, resulting in Kasasa’s switch from MySQL to Aurora. ● Led development of Java microservices with Spring Boot and deployment of Docker containers via Kubernetes.
