About Daniel Toms
Dan graduated from the University of Edinburgh with a degree in Forestry. After a brief period with the Forestry Commission, he re-trained as a science teacher. In 2004, Dan completed an MSc in Computing at the University of Bradford and joined Harrogate Grammar School to lead the computing curriculum.In 2012, Dan helped implement one of the largest 1:1 iPad schemes in the UK. Alongside his role as Head of Computing, Dan has served as Computing Subject Lead for both Red Kite Teacher Training (RKTT) and the Red Kite Alliance (RKA), and has been the Hub Lead for the North Yorkshire, Leeds, and Wakefield National Centre for Computing Education (NCCE) Computing Hub.In 2023, Dan took a sabbatical from teaching to join the NCCE full-time as their Specialist Lead for Programming.Dan is recognised as an Apple Distinguished Educator, Showbie Champion, CAS Master Teacher, Raspberry Pi Certified Educator, and STEM Lead Facilitator.
