I think technology teams often get mesmerized by the blinky lights and forget their greatest allies - the people they work with. That’s why I help ALL employees to learn how to protect themselves and the company.Here’s what I do:* I work with other teams and people to make sure we have a consistent and holistic approach to security in the company. I share what I know to build a security culture.* I create and run company comms and security training content that is interactive and engaging. I believe in explaining why something is being done rather than just telling them what to do. I check how well they learned and how they feel about security.* I lead physical security maturity uplift. I collaboratively design and implement solutions that enhance the physical protection of the assets, data, and people in the company. I also monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of these measures and recommend improvements as needed. This has required pulling the H&S, Facilities and Security teams together to achieve shared goals.* I make and follow security policies, standards, and best practices that are based on industry standards and regulations such as NZISM, NIST-CSF, and HSWA. I make sure they are followed and updated as needed. I also keep an eye on how they work and how they can be improved.* I work closely with the health and safety team to make sure that the physical and mental well-being of the employees is also protected from physical security threats or incidents.I enjoy working in a dynamic and collaborative environment where I can share my skills and expertise with others.
