Dennis sought to solve chronic drunk driving by creating a technological solution to monitoring probationers and parolees using cellular/global positioning systems (PGS). His researched and developed product is called Watch Your Step, as the monitoring technology is imbedded inside a wrist watch. He met with Silicon Valley guru Guy Kawasaki and Guy introduced him to a network of engineers, including the start-up Unav, funded by Guy's Garage Technology Ventures. Steve Poizner educated Dennis on the marriage of cellular pings in collaboration with satellite global positioning systems (GPS) so that monitoring can be within structures in addition to out in the open. Unav created the prototypes for field testing in conjuction with the Riverside County Probation Department (California). Evaluators compiled results and found the system successful in reducing drunk-driving recidivism.

As a self-developed human space exploration historian focusing on the United States manned space program, and that of the former Soviet Union, Dennis researched and wrote on the histories of the two programs. This led to his introduction to the Association of Space Explorers. From there he collaborated with Skylab missions' alum Astronaut Ed Gibson on the book titled The Greatest Adventure. It is a compilation of essays by astronauts and cosmonauts about their exploring space. Pierson Publishing in Australia published it in 1994, distributed globally.

During college Dennis aspired to be an author. He wrote manuscripts. Following graduation he worked in banking while writing after hours. In 1987 he teamed up with techno-thriller, military genre author Dale Brown after Dale's first novel Flight of the Old Dog. As a duo team their ensuing seven novels each earned rankings on The New York Times Bestsellers List. Over half a billion novels sold (500,000,000) are out in the world created by Dennis Hall, Dale Brown from 1987-1994. They are published in over a dozen languages, and in addition to print, are in audio and digital formats as well. Their seven novels are: Silver Tower, Day of the Cheetah, Hammerheads, Skymasters, Night of the Hawk, Chains of Command, and Storming Heaven.

Distributors placed the calendars in major chains of stores and independently-owned stores worldwide.

Malcolm Forbes, Chairman of Forbes magazine, and Dennis Hall became business partners in August 1989 when Dennis created the Forbes Capitalist Tool wall calendar. The wall calendar featured thirteen images of the hot-air balloons flown by Malcolm Forbes and his team globally to promote goodwill. Further the date blocks contained excerpts from Mr. Forbes' book The Sayings of Chairman Malcolm. The profitable venture was collaboratively published by a calendar company with global distribution. The partnership ended upon the untimely death of Malcom Forbes. During the endeavor Malcolm Forbes introduced Dennis and his wife Dana to his sons and daughter, his Forbes staff, celebrity recording artists, super models, celebrity chefs, and champions of business.
