Profile bio

About Garrett Richardson

My life's work is committed to improving the life and academic outcomes of boys and young men of color. The power of proximity is what guides my work. In other words, I believe in order to fulfill our commitments to our youth we must first be willing to get proximal to the communities they live in and the people closest to them: their Parents and their Peers. This is why I have designed mentoring communities with and for parents and youth from historically disadvantaged communities. The mentoring communities train parent and youth leaders to mentor their peer groups through a guided curriculum and experiential learning modules resulting in improved outcomes in such critical areas as attendance, credit accumulation, social emotional development, as well as an increase in positive parent-child interactions for parents with young children.

Listed skills include Curriculum Design, Classroom, Teaching, Staff Development, and 19 others.
