As a Tracked Vehicle Repairman I was responsible for the replacement and repair of any major and minor assembly associated with most wheeled and tracked vehicles the United States Army currently uses including the M1 Abrams, M2 Bradley, M88 Hercules, M113 Troop Carrier, M109 Paladin, M998 HMMWV series, M977 HEMTT including M978 fueler and M984 wrecker, M1078/1083 FMTV and M1089 wrecker to name a few. Major and minor assemblies covered include all drivetrain components such as engines, transmissions, differentials ect. ; weapon systems and targeting; communications equipment; driving assistance systems, for example the CTIS (Central Tire Inflation System); hydraulic steering systems and lifting components. Also I was responsible for the maintenance administrator position. As the SAMS1 (Supplemental Army Maintenance System) administrator I learned how to process and transfer work orders and inspection requests, track expenses and downtime, material control and recoverable items listing.
