When my son was born, my wife and I didn’t know anything about ADHD, Autism, or any other disability. We didn’t understand the system that we had to navigate or how to advocate. We have had a pretty amazing journey and that’s why I’m an advocate. I am soberly aware at the number of barriers that families and children face to accessing public services and what should be considered as basic requirements, timely and cost-effective access to resources and treatments.I also received my own ADHD diagnosis at 46. Disability isn't a bad word but the stigma, whether social, work or education, that surrounds disabilities and the lack of knowledge and acceptance makes it that way at times.Speaking----------I am available for speaking, presenting, educating or interviews on my advocacy and disability. Accomplishments------------------In September 2023, I successfully presented a plan to the City of Surrey to bring in Sensory Friendly Swim Times. (You can see the presentation here: https://youtu.be/ZryBHXLvNv8?si=5KlCm2dXVd-hJeY5) The pilot went live December 2023 and in March 2024, became a part of the regular programming for the City.I also started my own podcast called We are the ADHD Family, which is a chronicle of our family's journey but I also use it to reach out to other advocates and find out what makes a good advocate. In my previous life, as I lightheartedly refer to it, I was in Logistics for 14 years.
