I worked on a Management Information team, analysing available data to assess performance of the directorate and planning on ways to improve the data captured.I built a number of databases and spreadsheet based tools using MS Office suite applications using macros, pivot tables and queries to automate reporting and input. Most of the tools were developed with non-technically minded users in mind so required straightforward front-ends and robust error trapping to make sure as little maintenance as possible would be required.I was also responsible for maintaining the local intranet, using a CMS to ensure all the pages met the agreed corporate style and keeping all the available content accurate and relevant. In the last year, I trained two colleagues to take on this work to allow me to concentrate on performance management.

I started working in colleges and language institutes supporting their intensive language programs. This work developed into providing tailored 1:1 tuition to students of various ages and interests. I organised my own work load and devised programmes of activities from the resources available. This work ended when visa requirements became impractical.
