As Principal Investigator, I focus on the delivery of multi-year scientific research collaborations and the launch of our products into the market. We are supported by the National Institutes of Health, Defense Health Agency, Administration for Community Living, Veterans Administration, National Science Foundation, and the UK National Health Services. Our programs are focused on deploying lower limb exo-skeletons for accelerating rehabilitation and preventing foot amputation associated with diabetic foot ulcers and peripheral artery disease (FlyBand®). We also have launched programs to help prevent blindness from diabetic retinopathies and macular degeneration (KeepSight®). Academic collaborators include Johns Hopkins, USC, Baylor College of Medicine, Kings College - Belfast, University of Arizona, Moorfields Eye Hospital, University of Nebraska-Omaha, UCONN, and University of Virginia. Open Innovators is our commercial consulting brand and we provide innovation services to engineering, scientific and technology centered organizations. We strive to listen and sincerely understand what is needed, and work with clients to implement the latest best-practices in new product development. We are differentiated in that each of our consultants has a deep engineering or scientific background to complement their innovation process and team-building expertise. Our work includes facilitation of brainstorming sessions, future scenario planning, voice of the customer research, innovation process development, and the development of innovation teams. FlyBand is a game-changing new ankle-foot technology focused on helping people to preserve their mobility, prevent amputation, rehabilitate after injury, and reduce the effort of walking. Our clinical trials in Diabetic Foot Ulcer, Peripheral Artery Disease, MS, and other gait issues are demonstrating the effectiveness of our design.

After multiple surgeries, I lost vision in my left eye to retinal disease. This condition is now >90% treatable, yet it persists as the leading cause of blindness. I find this unacceptable and so we are taking action. KeepSight is focused on research and clinical testing of novel tools to help people avoid blindness. We believe that the self-efficacy and disease awareness required to prevent blindness can be expanded and improved with low-cost tools. Our clinical study results show that KeepSight tools have >500% improvement over standard of care vision monitoring tools - and we are seeking funding partners to deliver them free to patients. The KeepSight Foundation is a non-profit organization focused on reducing vision loss associated with the leading causes of age-related blindness, which include Diabetic Retinopathy and Macular Degeneration. The KeepSight Foundation provides direct hands-on support for patients, distributes thousands of no-cost novel vision monitoring tools, and provides educational outreach programs, helping thousands of patients.
