Workforce Development Manager-(Michigan Works Livonia Service Center)Manage Team of 4-10 Support Staff in the Employment Services Department- Assisting job seekers in their employment and/or career search. Facilitate workshops that explore the current job trends. Aid customers in their pursuit of new and emerging careers as it relates to Michigan's employment market. Connect and motivate people to use those transferable skills to pursuit new employment opportunities.Other duties include:• Assisted with all phases of facilitated and mediated services in accordance with federal, state, and local procedures at the Michigan Works Service Centers a partner agency of Downriver Community Conference. • Provided professional support to job seekers and employers in utilizing the Internet based Michigan Talent Bank Job search engine, Center resources and referral info for jobs and retraining through the No Worker Left Behind Program. Also assisted customers with various community based computer training opportunities to further their ability to search for employment.• Assisted customers in developing professional electronic resumes, assisting with application completion, conducting on-line job or resume searches. • Facilitated various career development workshops, program orientations and seminars as it relates to the most current career trends. • Extensive training in the area of identifying customer’s needs, strengths, weaknesses, interests, past/present training, employment history, life experience and attitudes toward successful employment, physical capabilities, and personal traits needed to overcome barriers to employment.• Knowledgeable of new and emerging labor markets such as those generated through the Green Initiative, Green Jobs Market-building Wind Mills, Turbines and Battery operated cars.

Greet Customers and determine needs and connect them with appropriate services. Instruct Customers in the use of MTB, provide technical assistance with various online job banks, career development sites, Instruct customers on the use of Microsoft tutorials, Computer software and office equipment. Provide retraining information through The No Worker Left Behind Program as well as workshops that might improve the customer's ability to return to the job market. This position requires a great deal of typing, revising, editing and resume building. Assist Customers with information regarding unemployment extensions and community resources when necessary. Familiar with the mediated services portion of the OS/MIS system. Assist Customers with check in and Check out process. In this position travel to the various Michigan works locations was necessary.

Worked on assignments for Michigan Works Job Bank assisting clients with filing for unemployment compensation claims as well as receptionist duties answering a multi telephone line. Used internal database system to input information for client's cases as well as assisted them with resume building and employment searches. Also experienced working with customers cross culture lines where english is not the dominant language.

Assembly/Packaging at Technicolor Industries in both Livonia and Detroit. Assembled various boxes and projects for the entertainment Industry. Worked all shifts and all locations. I also worked as an assembler and shipper for Archway Industries in Romulus Michigan. Responsible for the direct shipping of various goods to third party suppliers. Worked in all four of their locations learning the systems of packaging and assembly for all sites.

General duties included maintaining quality assurance standards for the agency, including insuring the safety of all mobility aids for adults with developmental disabilities. Managed 6 residential sites throughout southeastern Michigan. Supervised a support staff of 60 people, including managers, assistant managers, Med. Coordinators and transporters for all shifts. Provided ongoing training to maintain state compliance for licensing. Hired and mediated employee disputes. Conduct rights investigations. Supervised and coordinated all aspects of treatment and service delivery to implement organized and cost effective programming.
