I used the 2017 released Fortran 97 developed Algorithms for Lattice Fermions (ALF) package to simulate metallic-type lattice phase transitions using Quantum Monte Carlo (QMC) in 1 and 2 dimensions. I was also responsible for managing the Monte Carlo output data: - I worked with a remote work station in the Linux OS, working in the Ubuntu shell for Windows 10, and maintaining good HPC practices with SLURM and htop - I wrote Unix bash scripts to fork simulations over many cores and automate sweeps in parameter space - I wrote Unix bash scripts automating data orgnaization and formatting - I wrote Python scripts automating data analysis and visualization from the above script outputs I began by reproducing known Quantum Monte Carlo (QMC) results in the 1 and 2 dimensional Ising model. I then extended the results into a Fermion lattice model with Ising sites on the bonds as part of budding research into quantum phase transitions in a class of metals with fermion and bond-degree-of-freedom interaction. I justified the use of the ALF as a QMC tool for this research and was involved in the addition and development of the package for this purpose (writing new observables, accomodating special cases).

I interned with the Office of Sustainability at MacEwan University over the summer of 2017. My responsibility was to assess the academic sustainability programming available at MacEwan university.To this end, I built both a full sustainability course classification from the entire 2016/17 Course Calendar and wrote an internal GAP report with my findings: - I parsed over 1200 course entries and evaluated potential for sustainability learning-outcomes or practical applications. Going through the learning outcomes for each course using the last updated official course syllabus carefully and thoroughly. - I built a 5 sheet Excel workbook listing Sustainability courses with over 700 independent entries; including various numerical grading and scoring schemes for future use and comparisons with other institutions - This workbook now serves as a template for all course inventories; with automated updating between changes to the catalogue and output scores/totals - I produced a comprehensive report based on my inventory and a selection of other databases highlighting immediate areas of growth, standardizations and comparisons with past performances

I worked to gather information from constituents on behalf of Mike Nickel, taking on detailed accounts of issues in those neighbourhoods and relaying back to the office in coherent, normalized format for policy shaping purposes.- I produced regionally delineated blocks of data, with key terms/flags describing demographics and issues- I entered data live in a standard Excel workbook programmed with dropdown options (by me) using an iPad tablet. The use of a standardized Excel format was adopted team-wide as a result.- I packaged entries indexed by address and name for ready comparison/verification against census information and prior data from the neighbourhood.
