CurrentI am in the process of taking a 250 acre unused old cattle ranch, and updating in into a beautiful working permaculture (patterned after natural sustainable environmental systems) farm, including set asides for native flora, teaming with life, to flourish.So far I have a master plan, I bought a few animals (50 chickens, four alpacas, some barn cats, and a horse), I started breaking ground on a few plots of earth for growing some crops from seed, and I have made arrangements to reduce my potential water needs by supplementing the well water with water from a nearby city. I have will be using subterranean irrigation to reduce the amount of water needed whenever and wherever possible, and I have selected crops that are needed fresh in the area, offer value added opportunities, and high cost import crops (that CAN be grown well right here).
