Although I truly loved my work in higher education, I made the difficult decision to step away to care for my father, who was living with severe dementia. During that period, I developed skills that I know will be invaluable in this role: empathy, patience, compassion, and the ability to problem-solve in unpredictable situations. After my father passed in April 2024, I felt ready to reenter the workforce, and I took a position at Governors Island. In this role, I’ve had the privilege of interacting with thousands of people from all walks of life and nearly every corner of the globe.
