National Marine Facilities Sea Systems (NMFSS) was established in September 2005 and draws together a wide range of services and capabilities to support marine scientific research in an impartial and transparent way across the whole UK marine science community. The NMFSS mission is to develop, coordinate and provide capabilities, platforms and expertise to meet the needs of UK marine science.

Marine biogeochemistry and microbial ecology research at USC. Research cruise logistics / coordination and laboratory management. Research included work on California lakes, South Pacific and North Atlantic Oceans, the Red Sea and Antarctica.

Bermuda

Research specialist and and sea going Chief Scientist with the Bermuda Atlantic Time-series Study (BATS). Planned and coordinated 5-15 day research cruises, taking lead on mobilization / demobilization logistics and accountability for science party operations at sea.Maintained and operated numerous analytical laboratory instruments including an HPLC, spectrophotometer, fluorometer, salinometer, dissolved oxygen titration system and a liquid scintillation counter. Responsible for various environmental datasets through all stages, including sample acquisition, laboratory analysis and data verification / QC.
