Above all, my approach to teaching is underpinned by a sense of empathy. Reading and writing stories for children as part of my graduate study has taught me to see the world through a child's eyes, to feel acutely the pain of childhood struggles that may seem trivial to an adult. I believe that if I do what I do from a place of legitimizing children's opinions and feelings, rather than belittling them, this will create a sense of mutual trust that can serve as a strong foundation for learning and growth.
