Contributed to the commissioning of the largest machine built by humanity: the Large HadronCollider (LHC), as a PhD student in the operations team of the LHC. Partook in experiments anddeveloped software for LHC operation as well as machine development and measurement campaigns. - devised new operator tools and machine views by visualization of merged online simulation andmeasurement data reduced to information relevant for machine protection and efficiency - established procedures and provided the necessary software to manage the simulation modelsrequired for the generation of power converter settings and online simulation of the LHC - defined a software architecture and version-controlled project structure for automatic release,continuous integration/testing, issue tracking completed by wiki pages for documentation - trained operators and fellow students in usage of the provided software packages and tools. - presented results in conference papers and in a short talk at the ICALEPCS2011 conference

Developed a prototype SERCOS driver for real-time applications under Linux (RTAI). Implementedrequired kernel modules (PCI and SERCOS driver) and QT user interfaces and reached communication phase 2 of the start-up sequence with six linear drives in a single SERCOS ring.

Integrated industrial digital cameras (Allied Vision Technologies) into the automation system of ahexapod machine tool. Acquired knowledge on driver integration into C ++ software, IEEE 1394 device drivers and communication as well as basic programming skills in the Delphi programming language.
