I have the privilege to be a key senior member of the team responsible for launching Warid Telecom (Pvt.) Ltd. in Pakistan.Helped manage, supervise and deliver a Greenfield GSM network design with over 500 sites for network launch in 28 Major cities. The project was delivered in 6 months, starting from BOQ Finalization to the integration of 90% of sites for Network Launch.Timely provision of cost effective coverage and capacity solutions, as per business growth requirements; this entailed management of all resources and activities pertaining to Radio Network Design, vendor management and effective inter-departmental and inter-divisional collaboration.Hiring, training, coaching and professional development of a high performance team of 15 RF engineers, successfully delivering complete in-house RF design services. Development, implementation and evolution of RF Design processes/guidelinesProviding objective and conclusive reports with regards to the network behavior, key trends and the envisioned network growth strategy/plans related to coverage and capacity. Successful trials, procurement and deployment of localized coverage/capacity solutions. e.g. Repeaters, Pico Cells etc.RFP formulation, vendor evaluation and BOQ finalization for RF/BSS domain.Network Traffic modelling to develop a better understanding of the evolving localized subscriber behavior; helping to align network capacity provisioning with commercial subscriber forecasts. Helped formulate the national outdoor/indoor micro site design strategy, including the design and delivery of Pakistan's first IBS DAS program for enhancing network quality/perception in high profile buildings.Lead technical role in finalization of Phase-6 Business plan for commercial launch of more than 500 new cities and 150 new roads, based on detailed strategic meetings with all stakeholders.

As part of an enhanced services portfolio, was appointed by Motorola Pakistan as Lead Regional RF Consultant to Mobilink Central Region for support in all Regional RF Design and Planning activities. This assignment entailed the following key tasks.• Generation of weekly and monthly Traffic reports and formulation of high level summaries/presentations to offer insight into the network growth dynamics and associated capacity requirements in light of short and long term projections.• Design of new macro coverage/capacity/quality sites into the network and associated cluster redesign of surrounding sites to optimize the air interface.• Monitoring network KPIs/DT logs and recommending coverage improvement and traffic balancing measures through antenna system changes, parameter tuning and radio addition/removal.• Manual Frequency planning using MapInfo and Net plan.• Maintenance and audit of Network Sites database.• Planning for Micro sites in buildings and factories. • Resolution of customer complaints related to coverage issues.

I was part of a compact and versatile engineering team which provided end to end network rollout, planning and optimization related services to the largest operator in Pakistan, Mobilink.• Involved in Mobilink Pakistan Network Expansion and Services project awarded to Motorola in 2001. Involved in the installation and commissioning of 50 new sites and expansion of around 150 existing sites in a span of 3 months. Task entailed supervision of installation, performance of commissioning/integration activities and post integration tests including drive-testing and statistical analysis.• Primary designated expert resource for administration and use of Net plan (Motorola cell planning tool) in Pakistan. Was responsible for tool software issues escalation/resolution, radio network projects creation/maintenance, radio network site database maintenance, clutter maps upgrade and all tool based predictive analysis/reports to support planning and optimization activities.• Using Net plan (Motorola cell planning tool), prepared a comprehensive Network growth plan which included nominal cell plan generation of nearly 1000 newly proposed coverage, capacity and quality sites. Activity also included the generation of coverage, quality and comparative plots of all the major cities of Pakistan.• Statistical analysis, KPI monitoring and Traffic growth projections of radio network through MARS (Motorola Analysis & Reporting System).• Drive testing for radio network health monitoring and optimization of individual sites, logical clusters, roads, highways etc. Accurate monitoring of cell coverage, handovers, neighbor relations, downlink quality and interference levels.• Involved in multiple BSS Software Upgrades, providing support for database verification, real time deployment support during upgrades and post upgrade health checks including KPI monitoring, statistical analysis, call testing and drive testing.
