When I quit my job in 2020 I had two priorities, making videos and being present for my family. I didn’t exercise because there was no time for that, or at least I didn’t make the time for that. I ate whatever I wanted, whenever I wanted, because that was my reward for filming, editing and publishing a video on that day. I was happy alhamdulilah, living life on my terms, becoming a better video maker and a more present husband and father, but my health was struggling, there wasn’t much of an issue medically, but if I am out of breath chasing my kids up the stairs during a game of tag then I think there’s an issue. For me I wanted to feel as happy physically as I was emotionally. I wanted to have the energy to enjoy the things I was building in my life and not crash after every video shoot, lay into a pizza and watch Netflix till I fell asleep. I made a decision one morning to change, it was then I was introduced to Yasir Khan, and during our first meeting I asked him what kind of workouts we were going to do, he stopped me and said “Don’t worry about any of that”, let’s focus on the mental part of transformation, because if we can build that then everything else will follow. We set goals together and made a plan, which I stuck to no matter what, I never missed a workout or cheated on my diet. For those who are curious about the training, it was six days a week, cardio for 1.5 hours in the morning, and 1.5 hours weight training in the afternoon, cheat meals were only given when we hit a specific target weight (this hurt 😂) As of today . but that is not what is important, what is important is how much stronger I am mentally through this journey. I feel there are no goals I cannot achieve if I set a plan and get to work. This journey has taught me that the greatest changes in our lives happen wherever we put our energy in, whether that’s our health, our family, our relationship, anything you can imagine. Believe me when I say it’s not easy, nothing worthwhile ever is, but it is through those challenges and hardships that we become the best version of ourselves inshAllah!
