Syarif has extensive working experience in public policy and government relations with an economic research background. Educated in Policy Economics from Erasmus School of Economics, Erasmus University, the Netherlands and Gadjah Mada University, Indonesia, Syarif previously worked as economic specialist under the Coordinating Ministry for Economic Affairs Republic of Indonesia, senior researcher at Wiratama Institute, and senior policy analyst at Indonesia Services Dialogue Council. He has done several economic research, as both research leader and member, funded by various institutions such as International Labor Organization, Astra Indonesia, Bappenas, Article 33, BPDP KS and BNP2TKI. He also actively writes and publishes Op-Ed articles for several Indonesia newspapers, such as Kompas, Bisnis Indonesia, Investor Daily, and detik.com.
