Chief Executive Officer
CurrentJose has led La Casa Norte through the toughest years in its 20-year history. At the onset of the Covid-19 pandemic, seeing the disproportionate impact the pandemic was having on low-income communities and people of color — Jose made a public commitment to keep La Casa Norte’s doors open to meet the rising community need. Under Jose’s leadership, La Casa Norte's impact has grown from serving 5,000 people per year to over 24,000 individuals city-wide. LCN, expanded its rental and cash assistance programs, grew its food access points, operated its youth emergency shelter programs 24 hours per day, seven days a week, and opened a community office on the south side of Chicago. LCN also had back-to-back record-breaking fundraising years, which has put the organization on a path to long-term sustainability for years to come. Today, Jose continues to work with his team, La Casa Norte’s Board of Directors, and community partners to develop innovative solutions to eliminate poverty and hunger, expand housing and educational opportunities for youth, and create healthier communities across Chicago.
