Murray is a trained, nationally accredited and experienced Mediator and Family Dispute Resolution Practitioner.After completing his Law Degree with Honours in 1995, Murray went on to practice as a Solicitor, Solicitor Advocate and Barrister with initial accreditation in 2003 as a Mediator with the Institute of Arbitrators & Mediators Australia (IAMA – now the Resolution Institute), and approval as a Mediator with the Victorian Bar, Supreme Court of Queensland and the Queensland Law Society. Since the instigation of the National Mediation Accreditation Standards (“NMAS”), Murray undertook further training and now holds NMAS accreditation, Family Dispute Resolution Practitioner accreditation with the Attorney-General’s Department (Commonwealth), a Professional registration with the Resolution Institute and is a recognised and approved Mediator of the Queensland Law Society.With Murray you get more than just an accredited and experienced Mediator: He draws skills from being legally trained and from many years of being involved in most aspects of dispute resolution. The parties benefit from Murray being able to impart his knowledge as to the many pitfalls and disadvantages of having a dispute escalate to a Court or Tribunal Judgment where, generally, the parties lose the ability to control the outcome and will be mostly disappointed with the result, the significant costs and inconvenience. Murray can assist parties (whether self-represented or attending with legal representation) to identify and focus on the important aspects of their matter in dispute, if that’s what is called for. But, more importantly, he also has the ability to isolate and grapple with what’s really important to each party, empathise with it, find shared goals and middle ground, and bring a perspective of realism, future focused results and practicality to the outcome.In any family (property & parenting), wills & estates, commercial or civil dispute, Murray’s use of his skills, knowledge and experience gives the parties the best chance of resolving their dispute with mutually beneficial outcomes.
