  I am a senior partner in the Litigation Department of Pepper Hamilton LLP and have been involved in a wide variety of matters since joining the firm in 1970. A large volume of my work is focused in the products liability area for many pharmaceutical and medical device companies and their subsidiaries. I’ve defended such pharmaceutical products as anabolic steroids, antibiotics, anti epileptics, birth control pills, cardiac medications, contrast media, dermatologic medications, fertility agents, major and minor tranquilizers, NSAIDs and over-the-counter preparations, and medical device products such as catheters, intraocular lenses, IUDs, spinal implants and stents, among others.As an outgrowth of representing pharmaceutical and medical device companies, I have gained experience in related employment matters, trademarks, antitrust, regulatory agency and medical malpractice cases. I’ve also handled intellectual property litigation and have done pre-publication counseling and defended libel suits.I served as the first American president of the Association Internationale des Jeunes Avocats (Young Lawyers International Association), headquartered in western Europe and I am a past president of the American Chapter and a member of the board of directors of the Union Internationale des Avocats (International Association of Lawyers), a Paris based organization that is the world’s oldest international lawyers association, having been founded in 1927. I am a member of the House of Delegates of the Pennsylvania Bar Association and have served in a number of leadership positions with the Philadelphia Bar Association, including as a member of the Board of Governors and as chairman of the Professional Guidance Committee.
