Murray Whyte is an award-winning journalist at the Boston Globe. Previously, he was at the Toronto Star, the largest daily newspaper in Canada. Over a decade with the paper, he had been a feature writer, cultural journalist, and most recently, art critic. His work has ranged from long-form narrative features on a broad range of subjects to analysis and opinion. He has been published by many international publications, including The New York Times, The Guardian (UK), The Times of London, The New York Observer, Esquire magazine and Details magazine, among others. He is a National Newspaper Award winner, Canada's highest journalism honour; a Southam Journalism fellow at the University of Toronto's Massey College; the winner of the journalism fellowship from the Asia Pacific Foundation of Canada, which sponsored a reporting project in China; and a fellow of the Western Knight Centre for Journalism at the University of Southern California. Previous experience includes documentary producer, television, for a national public broadcaster, the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation, and deputy arts editor for the National Post, a national Canadian newspaper based in Toronto. He began his career as a general assignment reporter for the Seattle Times, and has done a stint in financial reporting for Bloomberg News. He lives in Cape Ann, north of Boston, with his family.
