Over 25 years in the highly professional and competitive environment of education in Sydney and abroad in international IB schools, I grew my capacity as an educator and leader across all age groups. I found my initial passion for curriculum design, development and implementation for both students, and professional development for staff during the early years. I pursued another passion when I spent 6 months over two occasions teaching English as an Additional Language (EAL) in Fiji. Leadership became a prominent career theme from the early 1990s. Coordinating, deputy principal/acting principal roles included:- operational and strategic planning - audit planning and execution- vision and mission development- staff supervisionAt this time I was becoming accutely aware of employee engagement issues around sense of personal value, resilience, happiness on the job and compassionate leadership with service. From 2005 till 2010 I worked in international schools as a department leader, deputy principal and acting principal. I renewed and reimagined my love for independent enquiry learning with rigour through the International Baccalaureate. I mixed these skills with the principles of adult learning when working with adult English students for two periods at British Council Singapore. At this time I was becoming more aware of the importance of intercultural fluency and emotional intelligence for communities, especially those living away from their home as part of the international community without their normal support systems.Staff training and adult learning again became an important part of my work in Brunei whilst working on a literacy/teacher capacity building program. This challenging environment heightened my understanding for resilience, trust development and stakeholder engagement within the modern market place.

Healing from within necessitates a balanced sense of well-being. My brief was to engage the patients in conversation using non-judgemental, active listening and various questioning techniques. Other required skills included conflict resolution/confrontation and crisis management. Ongoing needs cases were then passed to social workers.I learned and practiced patience, candid self-reflection, attentive active and non-judgemental listening. Resilience and self-affirmation became important when dealing with the human diversity encountered.
