The Seyia Project focuses on what is today called “captive animal enrichment”. This project focuses on a way to better the installation and execution of enrichment by the keeper that matches the specific needs of a species, or more importantly an individual. In this case, Seyia, the black rhino.The Seyia Project is an Independent Study under the auspices of the Advanced Inquiry Program, Miami University, The Graduate School, Department of Biology. It is being conducted in conjunction with the Department of Education of the Cincinnati Zoo & Botanical Garden.
