I am back at Peer Resources after a five year break where I went to college. I am now the Alumni Engagement Coordinator. I help organize alumni events through out the year. I also help with the other program based event Peer Resources puts on. My role is to help grow our individual and alumni donors. I also manage most of the social media accounts and the write the newsletters for Peer Resources.

I volunteered at the Science Museum as part of my Master's Degree course. I helped to research and develop a new mobile learning activity for Key Stage Three and Four students for their new Information Age Gallery. This new gallery focuses on communication over the last two hundred years and how that has affected the modern world.

I helped provide pastoral support for students living in university accommodation. This included mediating conflicts, helping to check on at risk students and providing a link between other university support systems and students. We conducted bi-monthy check ups on students just to see how they were doing.

As an intern at the non profit organization, Youth Noise, I completed relevant office, and computer work involving our education reform initiative, Right to Learn. My tasks included helping to outreach to schools around the state, run youth workshops around the state on various topics. I also helped organize a meeting with state school board to voice student opinions on the education cuts and a rally/protest at San Francisco City Hall for students against the education cuts. In addition to this I filmed and edited a series of educational videos and documented all of our protests/rallies and the preliminary workshops for Play City, an initiative to bring social justice, sports and youth together.I was also responsible for maintaining company inventory.During my time at Youth Noise, I practiced how to effectively deal with problematic situations, how to communicate to not only the students but the staff of high schools all over the state of California and how to be organized in dealing with people from all over the state. I also learned how to rally students to come together over the universal cause of educational budget cuts. I also learned how to effectively work in an organization; I not only worked with my immediate superior and other outreach staff but with other interns to accomplish our project.

My duties included general office work, and administrative work in the main office of Peer Resources.2007-2008 Site Intern, Peer ResourcesI prepared and taught two periods of Peer Mentoring to a class of twenty-five students ranging from the ages of 14-18. I had to prepare a lesson plan for four hours of class on Tuesdays. This included ice breakers, peer mentoring activities, setting up meetings with mentors and mentees, weekly check-ins with students and coordinating with the teacher of the Peer Resource program. I supported students with their mentees and helped them with any issues they had. I learned how to effectively problem solve issues with both the teacher and students at the school, work under pressure, and how to communicate with a variety of people.

My duties included inputting student attendance data using Excel from various afterschool programs. I learned to be extremely organized with this job. It was my job to keep track of all the student attendance data for the after school program at the high school, which included, keeping track of all the sign in sheets, the number to students in every activity offered and producing charts and excel sheets to illustrate to my superiors changes in student numbers by time and activity. I also worked this job while balancing high school and my two other jobs during my gap year after high school.
