About David Marcus

Throughout my career I've been focused on helping companies both large and small develop and implement transformative strategies. Change is the one constant in life, and it's definitely what thrills me about my work. I've been fortunate to be able to be a change agent in a time in the entertainment and digital media business of tremendous uncertainty and even adversity. For me, that environment has enabled me to operate at the edge, helping organizations to develop around "what if" scenarios, and to challenge the status quo to unlock new business opportunities. I believe in building and leading teams of curious, engaged, and thoughtful experts who thrive on high energy assignments and are comfortable dealing with uncertainty.

In addition to my role overseeing supplier and strategic partnerships, I was responsible for all aspects of ScoreBig's consumer and trade marketing, product development and product management. ScoreBig provided sports teams, concert promoters, theaters, and attractions with a yield management platform that allowed them to discreetly reprice tickets to price conscious consumers. ScoreBig uniquely employed a "Make an Offer" transaction model similar to Priceline's. This allowed event presenters to make tickets available to consumers below face value without the brand tarnishment normally associated with discounting in the live entertainment business. ScoreBig was backed by Hearst Ventures, US Venture Partners, Checketts Partners and individual investors.

    Ticketmaster, Llc Mar 2005 - Oct 2008
    Beverly Hills, California, Us
Ticketmaster is the world's largest live event ticketer and one of the top 5 eCommerce sites in the world.I was tasked with helping Ticketmaster to engage the touring artist community, which had to that point been alienated from Ticketmaster (and which harbored significant ill will toward the brand). In service of that mission, I built and led an international team that developed customized ticket sales and marketing strategies, and provided related operational support, to touring musical artists. Over the course of my time there, we built our client base from a handful of tours in the first year, to more than 150 tours a year. Our clients included the Rolling Stones, U2, NIN, Bon Jovi, Tim McGraw & Faith Hill, Metallica, and Coldplay, among many others. In addition, my team helped to bring a number of innovative products and services (all of which are now standard ticketing tactics) to market during my tenure, including:- Fan club pre-sales- VIP packages- Ticket auctions- Paperless ticketing- Dynamic ticket pricing ("Platinum" tickets)- Ticket + Album bundles- Fan club membership bundlesI also worked closely with Apple iTunes to create a multi-year strategic partnership that rewarded consumers' digital download purchases with access to artist ticket pre-sales; that rewarded ticket purchasers with complimentary digital downloads; and which led to a joint iTunes/Ticketmaster gift card product. iTunes users could also link to Ticketmaster from within iTunes, making Ticketmaster the first non-Apple brand to be featured inside the iTunes "chrome."
