The Women’s Economic Empowerment (WEE) project aimed at increasing the transparency of funding for WEE by examining funding towards WEE as a critical aspect of gender equality, including women’s financial inclusion, gender integration and women’s empowerment collectives. This research focused on Kenya, Nigeria, Uganda, Ethiopia, Bangladesh and Pakistan. We utilize an evidence-based approach to advocate for greater tracking and transparency of funding towards WEE.My achievements in this role included the following:• Co-authored a research methodology for tracking international funding for women’s economic empowerment (WEE), women’s financial inclusion (WFI), and women’s empowerment collectives (WECs)• Built a database by merging data from four data sources (IATI, OECD CRS, Candid, and CGAP) for Kenya, Nigeria, and Bangladesh• Led the review and analysis of funding and impact data for WFI and WECs• Co-led report writing for six reports on WFI and WECs• Authored blogs and policy briefs• Actively engaged subject experts, country experts, the project’s donor (Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation), and respective government agencies’ representatives to better understand the concepts and country contexts for research and advocacy.
