Muzaffer Ertuna was born in Istanbul. He graduated from Kabatas Erkek High School, one of the top three public high schools in Türkiye. Then, he graduated from the Department of Econometrics at Uludag University as a valedictorian. After his working experience in finance and foreign trade sectors in Türkiye for several years, he went to the USA instead of continuing his master’s in environmental sciences at Bogazici University. When Mr. Ertuna had studied his master’s in economics at George Washington University, he was offered two prestigious postgraduate scholarships by The University of Nottingham and so, he moved to the UK. After getting his PGCert in economics from The University of Nottingham, he moved back to Istanbul and started his master’s in econometrics at Marmara University (thesis in progress) in order to pursue a PhD in econometrics. However, at the same time, he took his first steps towards his professional carreer in tourism. During his life in Washington DC, for about 4 years, Mr. Ertuna had experienced not only being a volunteer translator for Turkish delegations and international students hosted by non-profit organizations sponsored by the US government, but also being a volunteer guide of them for cultural tours including the Smithsonian Institution, the world’s largest museum complex. Therefore, after moving back to Istanbul, he desired presenting Istanbul and Türkiye to tourists in the right way and graduated from the Department of Tourist Guidance at Cappadocia University as a full scholarship scholar. Muzaffer Ertuna also holds an associate of arts degree in cultural heritage and tourism from Istanbul University and has been studying art history at Istanbul Medeniyet University. He has been qualified by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, the Republic of Türkiye, as an expert professional guide on the Eastern Roman Empire, Gobekli Tepe and Upper Mesopotamia, and the Seven Churches of Revelation.
