As a young woman hailing from Chicago's inner city, I have personally witnessed and endured significant trauma and inequality within my neighborhood for over two decades. However, the topic of mental health and its impact on one's potential for success is seldom discussed. Fortunately, I have had the privilege of having two remarkable black women in my life, my mother and grandmother, who fought tirelessly to afford me the opportunity to escape the chaos and pursue higher education. Their presence has been invaluable.To break the cycle of pain and adversity, I made a conscious decision to utilize my education to give back to my community and acquire the skills necessary to assist families in coping with their circumstances, leading to improved and more prosperous lives. My primary goal is to advocate for mental health and wellness within black and brown communities, while also establishing an organization that offers individuals a healthy outlet to process their emotions, enabling them to become more fulfilled and productive members of society.
