In my role as Director of Assurance and Enterprise Risk Management, I lead the development and execution of robust strategies to mitigate risks and enhance organisational resilience. In my role as Head of Assurance and Enterprise Risk Management, I spearheaded the establishment of the Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) and Internal Audit functions for a globally renowned private foundation.My focus was on securing support from senior management and the board to strategically implement ERM, ensuring alignment with the foundation's objectives. Additionally, I devised and implemented an ERM policy to cover key risk areas effectively, establishing a robust governance structure that defined roles and responsibilities across the organisation. By conducting thorough risk assessments, I identified and prioritised key organisational risks and formulated appropriate response strategies. It’s worth mentioning that I developed and aligned the internal audit function with the organisation's strategic goals by formulating a comprehensive internal audit charter that clearly outlined its purpose, authority, and responsibilities. I executed a risk-based audit plan, communicated findings, and collaborated with stakeholders on action plans, fostering a risk-aware culture throughout the foundation. My role involved developing and implementing policies and procedures to govern audit functions, ensuring comprehensive coverage and adherence to best practices. During my tenure with Barclays Bank Africa / Absa Group Limited, I held dual roles as CEO Chief of Staff and Head of Strategy initially at a country level in Zambia and then at continental level for Africa Regional Operations.In these capacities, I played a pivotal role in driving the development and execution of strategic initiatives to foster growth, diversification, and innovation.Collaborating closely with the CEO, Senior Leadership, and the Board, I contributed to defining strategic priorities aligned with the overarching Group strategy. I communicated strategic priorities bank-wide, fostering a culture of strategic thinking and execution among employees.During this period I also undertook a special project as Head of Operational Risk, in this capacity I evaluated and addressed strategic risks impacting the bank's objectives, devising contingency plans and risk mitigation strategies in close collaboration with Senior Management. Leading a dedicated team, I focused on assessing and enhancing risk management, control, and governance processes to uphold the highest standards of compliance and operational excellence.My responsibilities included conveying audit findings, recommendations, and corrective plans to senior management, the Audit and Risk Committee, and relevant stakeholders, providing regular updates on audit undertakings and key risk domains.
