  • Fastspot
    Web Developer
    Fastspot May 2013 - Dec 2015
    Baltimore, Maryland Area
Over two years I was at times a full stack programmer, and at others a front-end engineer. Our niche has been centered on academia and cultural institutions, and thus I had an opportunity to help build large-scale websites that were centered on beautiful design and ease of use in the presentation of vital information. I wrote a lot of HTML, PHP, CSS and JavaScript. We implemented a grunt-based asset pipeline using LESS, and maintained a CMS built in-house called BigTree. I worked with project managers, content strategists and designers to inform the layouts and organization from a development perspective. I had many opportunities to interface with clients, and lead several training sessions for clients on how to use their new website and CMS.
  • Bully! Entertainment
    Creative Developer
    Bully! Entertainment Jan 2013 - May 2013
    Baltimore, Maryland Area
At Bully! I had the opportunity to work on a major advertising campaign for Dos Equis and the Most Interesting Man in the world. My colleague and friend, Nicolas Elizaga, and I worked with another vendor to build a Facebook app to mimic the vintage look of the commercials and create a slideshow with narration from the talented voice of those ads. I also contributed to animations and mobile games where I could.
  • Mckinney
    Programmer
    Mckinney Dec 2010 - Dec 2012
    Durham, Nc
While at McKinney, an award winning advertising agency in the south, I wrote code in a number of capacities. I started on the widely acclaimed awareness piece called SPENT, the brainchild of Jenny Nicholson and Nick Jones. The first iteration was made in Flash. In 2013, I'd freelance for McKinney to convert it completely to HTML5/CSS/JavaScript to enable folks to play through the game on their mobile devices. The game has been played by many millions of people and has even been used in curricula and training for government employees as an empathetic reminder that we are all human. It is the accomplishment I'm most proud of thus far. I had an opportunity to work with other high profile companies including Nationwide Insurance, CenturyLink, and Meijer, while contributing to pitches for business and internal projects. I also had a few opportunities to stretch my design muscles in a few internal and unreleased projects. For several months I was on loan to the startup Dognition Inc., a company based in cognitive research for dogs, to help build a prototype for their online-based programs and laid the developmental foundation for the website. I had a chance to work with some very talented researchers and work alongside executives that I honestly had no business being in the same room with. It was humbling and eye opening.
  • Centerline Digital
    Flash Designer/Web Developer
    Centerline Digital May 2008 - Dec 2010
    Raleigh, Nc
I began my professional career at Centerline and credit the talented staff there for helping me grow and realize the breadth of work with which I could apply a creative spark. I created animations and websites alike in Flash, and first learned to grapple with PHP and MySQL to manage data. I managed to begin a redesign of video review software as an internal tool in HTML/CSS/JavaScript and it helped me hit the ground running as a web designer and developer.
  • North Carolina State University - Delta (Distance Education & Learning Technology Applications)
    Multimedia Design Intern
North Carolina State University - Delta (Distance Education & Learning Technology Applications) Aug 2006 - May 2008
    Raleigh, Nc
I tend to refer to what I did at DELTA as Information Design. I worked with other student interns and full-time staff to create engaging vehicles for learning. Anything from websites, video, interactive flash applications, and full fledged educational games, our team provided augmentation for traditional education and redefined distance learning for our university.
  • Ncsu College Of Textiles
    3D Modeler/Animator
Ncsu College Of Textiles Feb 2006 - Aug 2006
I spent most of my time with the College of Textiles modeling and animating textile machinery and processes, illustrating how certain weaves are accomplished and how different materials are processed and combined to produce textiles. These animations were used to help professors teach classes.
