Dealing with proprietary back end IT systems providing transmission automation, onscreen data, MAM and IP delivery systems that all play their part in producing a complex and unique channel literally broadcast around the world.

Ensuring safe operation of waterborne activities, and maintaining equipment and tug. Supervising personnel operating and working near water. Making sure proper timesheets were provided for the site manager.

Salford

Started with Editing and Graphics, but as computer systems became more complicated I specialised in Graphics which included administering a VizRT system as well as a large Mac estate, and Quantel systems. Moving to Salford gave a new direction back into TV studios which I enjoyed at IPK. Installation and configuration of Sony, and Snell vision mixers, Sony camera systems, Calrec, Reidel, Mosart, ENPS plus many forms of other automation used in large news environments.

Started as a Junior Engineer and learned on the job, and eventually ended up providing quotes and project managing small jobs, as well as principal engineer on larger works. It was during my time here that I learnt AutoCAD to a high skill level, including scaled and 3d drawing, along with TV and audio equipment from across the board. Due to being involved at a Project Manager level, I gained an appreciation of close working relationships with equipment providers which ensured the correct level of quality and price in the needed time frame.
