My portfolio included but was not limited to managing marketing, brand, events, social innovation and culture for Big Box Co. Primarily this was centered around ensuring authenticity on behalf of the brand to better motivate and encourage for community buy in around projects, initiatives and goals established by the founding members. Community building formed an integral part of my day to day activities centered around nurturing existing relationships and creating new ones and broadening the impact of the project alongside the needs and wants of the community we serve. My work paid particular attention to creating cohesion between the community and our operation and fostering real connections which could create real work beneficial impact on our surrounding community.

Street Scene Tours is an atypical tours and events company which offers unique experiences and trips around Durban KwaZulu Natal and South Africa at large. It began with a simple idea. Showcasing Durban to Durbanites. As a people, the citizens of Durban are eager explorers and adventurers traveling far and wide in their exploration of the unknown. For some reason however, this urge is found lacking when it comes to their own backyard. Street Scene sought to address that. And in the early years of operation our focus remained exclusively on locals with whom we found huge acclaim and a genuine yearning to reconnect with their home town. What soon became apparent was that if you can put together offerings that knock the socks off a longstanding Durbanite, you may well have something that'll blow the minds of visitors. As the company continues to grow, this ideology increasingly proves itself as an authentic avenue to buy in from our guests into what we do and how we do it. And whilst we pride ourselves in a bouquet of unique and authentic tours, where we truly excel is in bringing together unique tailor made offerings which often take months of research and minute planning with our guests to uncover stories, events and little portals back in time for our guests to enjoy in ways which matter most to them. Responsibilities included: Logistics and marketing focused around national tours.Customer and supplier management.Event creation and team management.Creation of new tours.Public speaking at corporate events as a Durban Tourism representative and key speaker.Full operational oversight over all elements of the business including but not limited to staff, tours, events and marketing.
