I am currently a R&D computer scientist working for Sandia National Labs developing software for satellite ground systems as well as developing and testing the vtk-m high performance visualization framework on HPC machines while simultaneously leading two projects that advance Sandia internal software capabilities.I enjoy working with programming languages, learning new skills, and developing easy to understand, well documented and tested optimized software. Data processing, machine learning, embedded systems, scientific applications, and programming language type applications such as parsers, code generators, and compilers are the areas I am most interested in working with.In 2016, my research on automated big data framework delegation won the best student paper award at the 21st ISCC held in Messina, Italy. Additionally, I was voted the best graduate TA in the computer science department in the Spring of 2016 by the faculty and students. When I graduated with my Bachelors in Science in 2014 I was awarded the Cramer award: an award presented to the two highest academically achieving students in the graduation class.I am very skilled at programming in Java, C++, C, and Python, and I also have experience working with many various tools and frameworks during my time and Sandia.

Teaching Assistant For CompilersNew Mexico Institute Of Mining And Technology Oct 2016 - Dec 2016Socorro, NmAssisted in the development of course material for a compilers class at NMT. Additionally developed a testing system for grading the compilers projects, which were written in C++ for the COOL programming language. -
Graduate Research Assistant And Project LeadNew Mexico Institute Of Mining And Technology May 2016 - Oct 2016Socorro, NmManager and lead programmer in a team of three whose main focus was to implement a neural network that could classify the working status of hosts in a cloud system. This application was tested using the CloudSim framework and the failure prediction system was implemented in Java. Preliminary findings showed that pre-defined behaviors could be predicted when using a multilayer perceptron and an Elman recurrent neural network with data pulled from the system and stored in sliding window queues. -
Teaching Assistant For Databases And Programming LanguagesNew Mexico Institute Of Mining And Technology Jan 2016 - May 2016Socorro, NmAssisted in the development of course material for a databases course and principles of programming languages course at NMT. Ran tests of student code involving database queries and tables written in SQLite and SQL+. Designed and implemented an assignment where students had to develop a LISP interpreter using C++. Assisted students with understanding topics related to ER diagrams, relational calculus, relational algebra, parameter passing, object oriented features, and activation records. -
Graduate Research AssistantNew Mexico Institute Of Mining And Technology Jan 2015 - Dec 2015Socorro, NmAssisted in the research of automated deployment of big data applications to cloud/distributed systems. Developed an interface that automatically submitted big-data tasks to the GENI infrastructure by analyzing the data made visible through the GENI API. Updated code multiple times to reflect changes in the underlying GENI API. -
Teaching Assistant For Algorithms And Data StructuresNew Mexico Institute Of Mining And Technology Aug 2014 - Dec 2014Socorro, NmAssisted in developing course material for an algorithms and data structures class at NMT. Often taught the lab portion of the class and would go step-by-step through problems related to: dynamic programming, big O notation, computational complexities, P and NP problems, amortized analysis, and data structure analysis including: lists, heaps, trees, and graphs. -
Hpc-5 Openmpi ResearcherLos Alamos National Laboratory May 2014 - Aug 2014Los AlamosWorked on Fault Tolerant Research. Implemented a reliable checkpoint restart mechanism for use with various OpenMPI applications to further decrease the time required to start from saved states by storing critical data in fast access solid state drives or in memory. Researched current checkpoint-restart mechanisms and designed algorithms to further improve upon current implementations. Implemented algorithmic solutions that integrate with the current OpenMPI code-base, which consists of over 300,000 lines of C code. -
Database System AnalystNew Mexico Institute Of Mining And Technology Oct 2013 - May 2014Socorro, NmPartnered with the NMSBA and the NMT Management Department to assist in the evaluation and potential development of a veterinary database system. Reverse engineered a database system written in MySQL with a graphical C# component. Created ER diagrams and class diagrams to showcase the interactions between different system components and the database interactions and queries. Met with the client on multiple occasions to discuss the issues with the current product and the features desired in the new product. Began design of a new system using SQLite and Java. -
Computer Lab AssistantNew Mexico Institute Of Mining And Technology Jan 2013 - May 2014Socorro, NmAssisted in teaching students the C and Python programming languages. Used GDB and Valgrind in Linux to evaluate the efficacy of student's code. Looked at student's codes and provided advice on making improvements, improving code modularity and efficiency, and debugging.
