I am a public health and environmental studies scholar interested in the links between natural and built environments, health equity, and intersectional anti-racism. I have an interdisciplinary academic background, bridging architectural design, public health and environmental studies, with extensive experience in research, policy and community settings. My areas of interest include built and natural environments, social and structural determinants of health, green spaces, community-based research, equity and anti-racism. I incorporate principles of community collaboration, health and environmental justice, structural change and human rights. Also on the Board of Directors at 880 Cities. My dissertation research explores the experiences of people who are racialized in public, urban green spaces in Toronto through visual arts-based methods and community-based research. The aim is to inform both policy and practice – for policymakers, public health professionals, city-builders, planners and communities – in creating healthy and equitable public spaces that are socially and racially just.
