My four primary tasks are: (1) Identifying and Developing Egyptian leaders (in the church, academia, business, community development, politics and communications, and other areas), (2) Networking and Connecting these leaders appropriately, with each other, and internationally (to give them greater access to resources, mentoring, mutually beneficial systems, capacity building, etc.), (3) Working in the area of Christian-Muslim Dialogue (on levels of building understanding and clergy collaboration to encourage and develop real-world community models of moderation and respectful coexistence), and (4) taking from the wealth of the Middle Eastern Church and developing resources to assist the North American church in our outreach and growth.

Full-time Intensive study of Classical Arabic, studying grammar, Qur'an, linguistics, expressions, and more, plus the history of Christian-Muslim interchange, and an in-depth understanding of Muslim Religion, Society, Politics, and Organizations, etc.

Leadership in ministries including worship, preaching, prayer, men’s studies/accountability groups, seniors, fellowship activities, pastoral care, and outreach; co-led, organized, and taught in youth group ministries.

EVANGELISM/TRAINING/COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT: Involved in administration on congregational, neighborhood, and classical levels; actively taught and led in the areas of social justice, evangelism, spiritual growth, and prayer; initiated, developed, and maintained a wide variety of programs and ministries, many of which included students and faculty of Calvin College; COLLEGE/DISCIPLESHIP: Assisted with, led, and attended regular discipleship groups, retreats, fellowship times, and outreach events, cultivating relationships with students and ministry leaders engaged in the Calvin College community; CLASSIS/HOME MISSIONS: Learned about institutional renewal, assisted classis with envisioning future, worked with team members to create presentations and gather listening groups, responded to feedback to reorganize structure and interrelationships of local churches to focus on benchmarks, joint ministry, neighborhood, and college outreach.

Completed Unit 1 of Clinical Pastoral Education at Mulder West in Pine Rest Christian Mental Health Hospital, and St. Mary’s Hospital; Volunteer Chaplain at Spectrum Health Hospital, Blodgett Campus.

Helped lead, organize, and serve in a wide range of activities with responsibilities to young people, regular worship services, administration, outreach to the expat community, and development of local partnerships.

Maintained and upgraded primary library, while developing relationships with coworkers in local international school.

Exposed to and assisted with outreach ministries, preached and taught at retreats and camps; co-led and helped teach at weekly meetings; began to acquire Arabic through interaction and linguistic observation.

Assisted college students in discerning their calling and learning about requirements for attending Calvin Seminary after graduation.
