After teaching for six years, Nancy returned to school and completed a master’s degree in Administration, Supervision and Curriculum Development from the University of Colorado. She then became an elementary principal and Director of Curriculum for the Summit School District in Colorado. In 1982, Nancy went back to school at the University of Denver and earned her doctorate in Educational Administration.
