Over the course of 25 years at Veolia, I was serially promoted through project-focused and new entity financial setup roles, culminating in financial management of a new £50M revenue entity that integrated three Veolia businesses (waste, water and energy) into one division, with a clear focus on serving large-scale industrial customers.My first role at Veolia, as Project Accountant, involved building a finance function from scratch for a new £3M turnover division and from then on, I became known for the ability to embed robust, compliant financial processes and systems from a zero base. This led to promotion into an Area Accountant role in 1999, where I developed meticulous financial reporting, processes and billing for complex client contracts of up to £19M revenue. My ability to foster trust and rapport with operational finance was key to my success in achieving efficiency and accuracy across the function, and also resulted in secondments to develop a sales bid and integrate subsidiaries.From there my role evolved into leadership of larger regions and bigger contracts, as well as providing key finance contributions to major systems implementations, including a major SAP implementation in 2016. Over the years I’ve built some great internal relationships across finance and the wider business, and I was delighted to win Veolia’s prestigious Customer Care award twice, in recognition of my operational business partnering skillset
