-Project responsibilities have included the site management, monitoring and regulatory activities associated with multi-centered FK-506 clinical research trials in the allogeneic and matched unrelated BMT patient population, topical (gel and cream) tacrolimus clinical trials (Phase I, II, III and IV) in the setting of atopic dermatitis and psoriasis, systemic tacrolimus therapy for the treatment of rheumatoid arthritis. Phase I-II clinical trials monitoring has been provided in renal carcinoma, prostate cancer, malignant melanoma, lymphoma, breast cancer and other malignancies. The grading of acute and chronic graft versus host disease (GVHD) in both the clinical and clinical trials setting has been performed. Other projects have included site management responsibilities and monitoring activities associated with Phase I PK trials assessing renal and hepatic impairment, candidiasis, as well as multiple healthy volunteer trials intensively assessing for potential QTc prolongation. Phase III efficacy and long-term safety trials in multiple therapeutic areas, including psoriasis have also been assigned and managed at the site level. Monitoring support for renal transplantation trials evaluating the safety and efficacy of new immunosuppressive regimens has also been provided. Unblinded pharmacy monitoring and auditing has been provided for multiple blinded clinical trials including ICU-based cardiac clinical trials.

Primarily responsible for treatment coordination, patient education and pharmacokinetic blood sampling for all patients enrolled in the Emory-based trial of Prolonged Infusion (96 hrs) of Taxol in Refractory Ovarian Cancer and Tubal Carcinoma.

-Delivered primary nursing care to patients undergoing chemotherapy induction or BMT therapy-Acted as resource nurse to coordinate patient care needs and staffing requirements on the 22-bed unit-Acted as a preceptor to both new staff members and members of the critical care float pool-Received cross-training to care for transplant patients requiring invasive monitoring, pressor support and/or mechanical ventilation-Developed and implemented acuity-based computerized classification system utilized on the BMT Unit for determination of staffing needs-Member of the BMT Outpatient Clinic staff responsible for history-taking, physical assessment, and presentation of patients to the attending physicians (April 1991-June 1993)
