One of my clients — ARTA — is a trade association formed to create greater awareness and appreciation for reusable textiles. What are reusable textiles? Napkins, tablecloths, sheets, blankets, and uniforms that are washed and reused (laundered), as opposed single-use disposable equivalents (paper products). Members include all facets of the textile services industry — suppliers and operators — who join ARTA for networking, education and research and marketing tools that help them sell reusable textiles to the hospitality, healthcare and industrial markets. As executive director, I handle member communications and marketing, meeting planning, and serve as secretary for board meetings.

Assisted AIA Kansas in jumpstarting its communications and marketing outreach and developing a brand for the organization. Included development of branded member programs, newsletter, and website, as well as sponsorship and advertising programs.

While at Fleishman-Hillard's Kansas City office, I worked with and managed teams that developed and delivered diverse public relations programs for regional, national and international clients including Hallmark, SBC, the VFW and the Kansas City, Kansas School District. My work at FH was recognized with a Silver Anvil in 2001 and several Prisms and Bronze Quills between 1998 and 2002.

As the publisher for Atwood's Exhibitor Marketing Services (EMS) division, I created, produced and executed promotions that helped exhibitors market themselves before, during and after show events. During my tenure as publisher I developed M.I.K.E., the Marketing Interactive Kiosk for Exhibitors. MIKE featured touch-screen computers that entertained attendees while securing product feedback and demographic data. Prior to publisher, I worked as a "road warrior" for Atwood, which also produced daily newspapers on site at national trade exhibitions and medical meetings. "Have laptop, will publish," was my motto when I traveled for 18 months to report, write, design, print and distribute daily newspapers for Atwood's clients. Working in teams in America's major cities, this work was logistically challenging. We always made deadline, although there were a few close calls (such as the time the press caught fire!).

Assisted director of corporate communications for development company/Miami Lakes (planned community). Activities included producing employee newsletter, monthly town newspaper and planning community events.

Served international trade association as managing editor of monthly 4/C magazine with $1 million-plus in annual revenues. Responsible for content, design, production and mailing. As member of executive staff, participated in strategic long-range planning for the industry and planning and execution of annual convention.
