About Nancy Levenson

When we tell people to do their jobs, we get workers. When we trust people to get the job done, we get leaders. Simon SinekI loved math growing up, so choosing a career in finance was a logical path and one I never regretted. As my responsibilities grew, I skillfully engineered turnarounds, reduced expenses, improved productivity & profitability, and led elaborate technology initiatives. As my job became more operational, I thrived on creating new processes that delivered double-digit improvements. I had the ability to examine complex scenarios, quickly identify issues, and then tenaciously set out to solve the problem. I was fortunate to have varied roles that provided a broader view of the business and enabled me to make significant contributions. I am most fortunate to have worked for leaders who trusted me and who in turn, showed me how to be a trusting leader. As my positions advanced to managing teams, I was still driven to deliver key performance metrics, but I also based success on my retention rate, the amount of people I grew into leaders, and my team engagement scores. I enjoyed developing & empowering my team and realized my impact could exponentially increase by building a team of problem solvers, a team of innovators, a team united behind goals and fully engaged in producing the best outcomes.I was also shaped by leaders who taught me to be kindhearted and supportive not only to your people, but to your community. Throughout my career I was highly active in volunteer and fundraising activities. This past year I’ve become a regular volunteer at multiple agencies, enrolled in a Non-Profit Management program earning my certification in June, and now have a deeper respect for the vital role the non-profit sector plays in enhancing the public. This is my new happy place – surrounded by trusting leaders doing amazing things for their communities and who look to me to help solve problems. Growing up I played sports and was often chosen as team captain. The best coaches taught me that the greatest teams had leaders who demonstrated trust, commitment, and empathy. They also had the confidence in me to go out on the court to lead the team to “get the job done.” At the time, I did not fully grasp the power of that trust until I worked for leaders who did the same. That is when it all came together for me. That is when I became a leader of leaders. That is how I continuously cultivate transformation, growth, and engagement in all aspects of my life. I am proud to tell Simon that I have never had any workers on my team.
